If you’re aiming to monetize your YouTube channel and start earning, you need to achieve over 4000 hours of watch time. However, reaching this milestone isn’t easy, especially for newcomers who may lack experience in content creation and basic SEO.
But don’t worry! In this article, I’ll share my personal experience of how I monetized my two YouTube channels. 1) Focus on video topics :
The initial step you should prioritise is selecting a video topic with fewer existing videos yet a decent search volume. You might be wondering how this is achievable. Believe me, every niche has enough room for newcomers, and my main emphasis is on creating videos on topics with low competition. Attempting to compete directly with established YouTubers requires you to outperform them. Otherwise, you won’t surpass them. By focusing on less competitive niches, you increase your chances of standing out and gaining traction. So i mostly focus on youtube search results and i always try to rank my videos on search result.
okay let me share some keywords and how i plan for a video .

if you search on youtube you will only get 2-3 videos on this topic and the most latest video uploaded was 4 year ago so if you upload video equal to better than those guys you can easily on the top of the list and i know this topic have not too much search volume but you can easily get 6-8k views in a single video means you can easily hit 50-100 hour of watch time in a single video .

So as you search on youtube the top video you will see is mine and i make this video with proper keyword research and you can see i got more than 9k views in a year and i got 192 hour watch time just using this method.

As you can see there is almost no video in this topic and i grab the opportunity and got some good views. I got almost 800 hour watch time through a single video using this technique .
let me tell you that i am not the best guy who knows about SEO and nor i am too good youtuber but i have enough expereince to get good watch time, views and i know how to monetize channel.
2) Make Engaging content :
Ensure that you create engaging videos so that your user stick to your video . The YouTube algorithm is designed in a way that is prefer a video which is longer and also have good user retention . So if you want to beat competition or make video viral understanding and applying this is very important.
so always make a content which you wish to see and you will definitely get good results. For making engaging videos , video editing is important so learn how to edit videos and also learn how to edit voice .
3) Make attractive thumbnail :
As you already know that the thumbnail is very important for a video to rank in search result because the first impression is last impression . so to get some initial views thumbnail is important and for sustained views audience retention is more important .
so what we conclude is the combination of good thumbnail and engaging videos + make videos on less competitive keyword will give you the fastest results.
